Microphone did'nt work after installing win7

Hello,
what should i do to fix the microphone of my pc, coz it did'nt work after i installed a windows 7 software.

You must install the driver, look at the device manager if the microphone has a yellow exclamation point in it.

If it is just a headset or desktop mic plugged into your sound card, you have to set it to default recording device.

Hit start and type "manage audio devices" without quotes. then you should get a screen with Playback|Recording|Sound|Communications tabs

Select Recording
In there make sure your mic is selected as default device and default communication device.

If you are in fact using Line in as well, you may need to turn of noise reduction and other enhancements on the mic properties(from here you can also adjust the recoring volume) as well. if no line in is in use, you should not have to do anything else.

If your card has its own software you can also use that to set this up. Also it never hurts to have the latest drivers for the card you are using. They can be found on the motherboard manufacturers site or sound card manufacturers site.
