Hi everyone!

I got a problem with my Broadcom 5702 (gigabit)onboard chip on an ASUS P4PE Mainboard. At first it worked out just fine but then I had to reinstall win2k and after I installed the LAN drivers I now have to wait a long time (about 1 minute) when I reboot until the network connection works! So I did some "format c:" :) and reinstalled win2k with sp3 (it says that you should have the newest sp on your comp) but still the same problem...
I then tried to find newer drivers but I online found some for the same chip but on a MSI mainboard and I'm not sure if they work on my ASUS mainboard...
I'm not even sure if it is a problem with windows-problem or a problem with the drivers...
Anyone can help?!? :)

Resources in device manager all ok?

Anything sharing or conflicting with the onboard NIC?

Resources are all OK. But I found out that it just happens when I'm connected with my DSL modem. Is it my DSL that causes this delay? It worked before I reinstalled win2k just fine...

Sounds like you have an issue with the USB factor...maybe the modem is taking a little time to sync...hmmm. Come back to you on that.

Have a look in your BIOS, in the PnP and Power Management sections. Using your manual, are any settings referring to USB or operating system stuff set accordingly?

I'm thinking that the change to W2K requires one or two BIOS changes to suit your hardware. It's a wild guess actually, but might be worth a shot.

I had win2k installed before and I didn't change anything in the bios (I think :) ). And please don't say" Never change a running system :)!!
Btw, what does this have to do wit USB? I use a normal CAT-5 cable to connect to the modem...
I think I must somehow screwed up my windows settings but I can't imagine where or what?!? Or is it my modem?? I sometimes just hate computers... Normally you know whats wrong and you can't fix it with computers you often don't know what the problem is so you can't fix :)

So it's an ethernet modem?

Hmmm. Sure it's not a router or gateway with a modem built in?

I got this: http://www.dsl-modems.de/dsl-modems-teledat-300-lan.htm

I hope it help cause its in german... :)

But it doesn't have to do anything with the modem. I tried out to connect to a different PC and same thing... When I'm connected it takes about 1 minute till the connection is ready, when not connected and I put the cable in when windows is ready it works perfect...

I probably just have to live with it or just crawl under my table everytime I'm in a hurry :)
