I am using MSN Messenger 6.2.0205 on Win XP Pro desktop. I have
installed and have running the MS Fingerprint Reader. I am having
problems setting up the MSN Logon information.

Whenever I try to set up MSN Messenger logon, I receive message "Your
logon data is not accessible. Please notify your system
administrator."

This is a home computer with multi-logons. What procedures do I have
to follow to have the Fingerprint Reader accept my logon data?

Thanks.

When asked for your MSN Passport information (log in screen for MSN
Messenger) touch the fingerprint reader with one of the fingers that you
originally scanned in the setup of the reader.

A wizard should pop up asking you for the related log in information for
MSN.

Once that has been entered, finish and close the wizard.

Now you should be able to log in to MSN using the reader.

If that still doesn't work, go to Microsoft's website
(http://www.microsoft.com/hardware) and download the latest version of the
DigitalPersona Software. The software on the website may be more up to date
than the one that came on the CD.

Unfortunately, version 1.0 is the latest offered.
I'm for one find this dissappointing.

With just a few configurable options added, I would actually recommend
the fingerprint reader as a useful device. With vers 1.0 however, I
view this reader as a semi-useful, semi-annoying piece of flashy USB
junk.

I hope an updated (more useful) version is released in a more timely
manner than IntelliPoint was after it was stripped of any "cool"
functionality. If memory serves, it was close to two years before they
released 5.x? (the one where prog-specific button assignments were
re-introduced).
