I recently bought an NEC DVD writer 3500 AG. It was running fine under
Win98. I could not of course work with files greater than 2 Gb, so I have
installed Win XP Home Edition with SP2. Now, I get errors reading and
writing to the Dvd player. I tried using a Toshiba DVD player, and got the
same problem trying to read DvD's or CD's. In all cases, when trying to copy
files form the disk to the hard-drive, the computer crashes to the BSOD. I
have been working through Tyan, NEC and Win XP help forums. All of them seem
to be coming back to the same issue, and that is a problem with the Chipset
compatibility with Win XP.

I have updated all drivers, including the VIA chipset drivers, and
motherboard BIOS (including resetting the bios), and have tried the WINXP
default IDE drivers. No change in the problem.I have changed cables from 80
pin to 40 pin on the DVD.

Are the KT-133a chipsets compatible with Win XP SP2?
