"The long, drawn-out Half-Life 2 release date saga appears to be drawing to a close at long last, with Vivendi-Universal Games' expected to formally announce a November 26th release date for Europe, with US gamers getting the game three days earlier on November 23rd."

Three reviews down, a great deal more to go. Three magazines from three different countries have now started to send their Half-Life 2 reviews into the public domain. With PC Gamer (UK), PC Format (Slovenia)* and PC Gameplay (Benelux) all giving it reviews 90%, it's looking like this will be a common trend. Here are the scores so far:
PC Gamer (UK): 96%
PC Format (Slovenia): 96%
PC Gameplay (Benelux): 90%

Average score: 94%
Many more reviews are expected this coming week, and we'll keep you updated on the scores as they come in.

In a response to this morning's speculation that Vivendi is now setting release dates for late November with retailers, PC Zone/Computer And Video Games are reporting information after speaking with a Vivendi rep:
"Last week we received a Half-Life 2 release candidate from Valve, and in its current state Half-Life 2 is brilliant and looks astonishing," a Vivendi spokesperson went on to talk about the current status of the game, saying:

<b>"Vivendi Universal Games is in the midst of determining whether Half-Life 2 meets the gameplay standard of the company and more importantly the devoted Half-Life fanbase."</b>

The news story goes on to say that Vivendi are hopeful of announcing a release date to the public very soon. They also state that their own retail sources reckon a late November release date as being "highly feasable".

HL: Source is just the old game with the new engine. No updated graphics or anything other than the rendering... no new textures/models etc. Should be hella fun to play through again.

Call me old fasion, but I still want the retail box. I'm hoping to find a little discount on the DVD version.

Me too. Which will probably cost me $10 because I already have a voucher for the bronze pack or will the upgrade be discounted even further?

You just get credit for the price of the bronze.

I wonder why they say 11 PST. We're still on daylight times, so they should say 11 PDT, because 11 PST really is 10 PST (I think I have that right).
