hi

I have a 3200 xp 400 fsb on a msi k7n2 delta , 512 ddr 400 xp pro, my
problem is .
if I try to run at 200 fsb after about 5 minuets of 3d game play it crashes
and restarts
my pc.so I tried it on a asrock 400 fsb board and the same problem on this
board.

my graphics card is a msi 5900xt

so after abit of down tweaking in the bios to 191 fsb my processor now reads
2.10mhz
and on boot up it is a 2800xp

but it is now stable as a barn door and no crashes yet .this to me seams
very strange as
most people seem to overclock not underclock .

anyone have any idea what may be going on as to sort this problem out , and
by the way
all the numbers on the processor all add up to be a 3200xp Barton

thanks

stu

Sounds like the system is overheating. What are your processor operating
temperatures? The internal diode, socket and case temp would be good to
know. Try using motherboard monitor 5. Did you use the same processor
heatsynch on both setups? Sounds like the system heats up and resets itself.
If the temps after game play are around 50deg c you should be fine. Then I
would try to up the cpu and voltage and the ram voltage.

If you haven´t tried. Set memory timings manually in BIOS to 3-3-3-5 or
lower .

thanks

i am using motherboard monitor 5 and i noticed that when at 200 fsb, out of
game mode 2d desk top the cpu heat was 52 deg c and case was 38deg c.
after coming out of game mode the cpu was 58deg c but din't notice
the case temp .

now at 191 fsb

cpu 48deg c case 35deg c 2d desk top out of game mode
cpu 54deg c case ? deg c coming out of game mode

My guess would be the ram or ram settings, all other things being ok.

I agree with Wes, try swapping out your memory. Your idle temp is a little
warm, but nothing to get too shaken up over.

hi

thanks for all your input but I think I have now found the problem.

I have now put a full copper based heatsink and fan on my processor
and an case exhaust fan on . as I have been told by my local pc shop
I must have been given the wrong fan when I brought the bundle,as it only
had a very small amount of copper on the base, the size of a 10 pence piece
and as thin as a dearest comrade paper.

now my teps are cpu 43c and case 28c
and very stable at 200fsb in the bios,no crashes yet
