Which motherboard or chipset is best for overclocking?

Is it possible to get a Barton 2500 to run as quick as a 3200 and stable?

I think the main 3 contenders at the moment are:
Soltek 75FRN2-RL
Abit NF7-S rev 2 (probably most popular for overclocking)
Asus A7N8X-deluxe rev 2

Most barton 2500s will do a 3200+ very easily by just adjusting the fsb from
166 to 200 cause the 2500s use the same multiplier as the 3200+ :) If you
can try get a mobile 2500+ as these have an unlocked multiplier and can
often achieve extreme MHz have a look on ebay.

Or get a 2600 Mobile. You can get one new for ~$120. Ebay looks like about
80 to 100.

I have the MSI K7N2 Delta-L mobo that uses the nForce2 chipset. Other mobos
have more tweaking options but after awhile you just want it fast and stable
at something below the absolute max so this board is fine.

Sure. I have a 2500+ Barton running at 2.2GHz with the DRAM/FSB ratio at
1:1 and PC3200 Crucial ram. I increased the voltage by .5 volts. I use
the heatsink/fan that came with the CPU. I keep the case open and it runs at
about 48C. I haven't noticed any problems related to it being overclocked;
zero. Computer has been running almost continuously 24/7 for 8 months.

Does the NForce2 chipset have a lock on the agp and pci bus.

Yes. The PCI/AGP bus can be locked at 33/66.

I only have AGP MHz setting on my A7N8X, so I assume PCI is locked no
matter what everything else is set too?
