My McAfee virus scanner runs its service in high priority. I cannot change it in task manager. Is there a way to change the priority it starts with?

you could try editing the icon command line
i.e.
start /low c:\mcaffeedirectory\executable
but i havnt had much luck with that so far,
or once its loaded do ctrl+alt+delete, go to the task list and set the priority by right clicking on the mcaffee task.

hope it helps

Thanks for the reply. I've tried both of those ideas already and no luck :(

using run /whatever creates an error message on startup and it won't let me change the priority of it through task manager.

Any other ideas?

So did I! I'm going to try reinstalling it again (you are given a choice of who to run it as system or annother user.) Mayby if I choose myself, I'll be able to change it.
