Would someone be good enough to explain horizontal/vertical moire settings. I have a 3 year old monitor and happened to be looking through the setup when I found that adjustment. In changing the number from 0 to 100, I couldn't notice any noticable change. I put back to 0 figuring leave well enough alone!

Thanks.

Moiré is caused by the interaction of the beam and the mask or aperture grill. If you do not have moiré patterns on your screen, the controls simple de-focus the unit slightly. On an older unit is may appear to have no affect.

You can find my white paper about moiré at the following link.

When I received my new monitor I was putzing with the moire adjustment and noticed no obvious effect. Then one day I ran the defragmenter and immediately saw an underlying swirly pattern in the cluster grid. So, before it started to defrag, I paused the program and a slight moire adjust removed it completely. I suppose you must present the monitor with a pattern to excite the unwanted behavior, as I wouldn't have noticed it otherwise.
