Just so that I understand...

The Epson printers are the ONLY consumer priced printers available in
the U.S. for printing on CD/DVD media. Correct?

Nope. Casio has a $99 thermal printer (titles only?) that will print
on nearly all CD/DVD media, not just the "printable" ones.

Don't know how well it works tho.

I knew about that but I assumed that the OP wanted to use the unit for more
than just CDs.

Do you have any model numbers? I did a quick search on epson.com, but I
couldn't find any.

Canon (not sure of the model) have one as well but the Epson R200/210

Erm, no they don't. No US Canon model supports Direct CD printing. Suggest
you make sure of your facts before posting.
http://consumer.usa.canon.com/ir/controller?act=ProductCatIndexAct&fcategoryid=103 find it. Go on.

May I suggest you book yourself an appointment with an optician? You
obviously failed to notice 'printers' under 'products' which, had you
bothered to click it would have taken you to a selection of printer types.
Had you then clicked inkjets, well I think you can figure it out from
there...

The "5" in i865 designates that it prints CDs - and so comes with a CD
tray. Canon won't release this model in the States. They have the
i860 - no "5" - no CD tray.

I have an R300 which has been, until recently, a PURE JOY to use.
Especially when printing on media.

However, I ran out of one color of ink the other day and even though the
black cartridge is nearly full it will NOT print at all. Even when I
select (black only).

At least my HP would still print in black if the color catridge ran dry.
