I am running sort of an informal survey of what OS (be somewhat specific, such as Windows XP Pro, Mac OS 10.3, or Debian Sarge 3.1) and Web browser people use. I have heard all sorts of wild speculation as to what people use and why, and quite a bit of the data I see I think has been manipulated (do you really believe MS's numbers about Windows/IE market share or Mozilla's about Firefox?)
So reply with what OS and Web browser you use and a brief description why you use said combination. "It came with my machine" is a perfectly fine response as it is the truth and that's what I'd like to see.
I'll start out. I run SuSE Linux 10.0 64-bit as my OS and KDE Konqueror 3.5.1 as my Web browser. I run Linux because of personal preference for the KDE desktop environment, the large amount of control I have over the system, and the fact that I am a born tweaker and Linux lends itself very well to tweaking. I also like the constant and easy availability of brand-spanking-new and updated software. SuSE was one of the first Linux versions I tried that worked well on my old computer, and I have just stuck with it since then as it "just works" for me and has some very powerful and easy-to-use tools in YaST.
I run Konqueror because of its nice integration with the KDE DE and that it is very fast and lightweight. I sometimes use Firefox and it is excellent, but it fits better in Gnome than KDE.
WinXP x64: cos i can (plus it sounds cool when you tell someone)
Firefox: (deer park alpha 2) because it's x64, although it is giving me some cr@p (fatal error has occured, ~2 times a month) and i can't be bothered to download firefox 1.5
I use WinXP Pro because I use Visual Studio Products and IE 7 Beta 2 because I feel like it. I use many MS Beta products because they are free and I like to user test for compatiblity bugs.
