Palettes screen appears when Num 6 and 8 pressed

When 6 and 8 are pressed together a screen showinng pallette colours shows
up.
Running win 98 se.
mame 70
Using X arcade double coontrol model (6 months old)
Also get it using the keyboard.
Any ideas?

Try deleting default.cfg in $MAME\cfg
