Did you remember to reinstall your DVD decoding software... like PowerDVD or
WinDVD?

hi cari , thanks for responding
erm, when i had my hard drive fitted i just inserted the product recovery cd
rom as it says it installs all the factory stored files to my pc, i naturally
assumed that was all i needed to do, and it was the only cd to come with my
pc when i bought it, im not sure if its the full windows ep edition, but when
ive used it in the past it was like the 1st time i ever started up my pc, (i
hope thats clear)
would any one have a link where i could download the dvd decoding
software,or power dvd/windvd ect,

You apparently have an OEM machine (like an HP, Sony, eMachines, etc.)
that came with a Recovery Disk instead of a real operating system disk.
Most of these OEM machines also come with auxiliary cd's for other
programs such as WinDVD, Works, etc. Look to see what other cd's came
with your system or look on the computer mftr.'s tech support website
for your specific model computer.

hi, i checked the other cds but unfortunatly they dont have it on them, and
the mftr's web site doesnt seem to exhist, (idid buy it 5 years ago lol), i
tried to use the recovery disc again, maybe it hadnt installed everything
because im also having problems with the ,trident video accelerator blade
3D/promida,
and when i insert the disc turn off my pc and restart it doesnt auto run,
and windows starts up normally, funny because it worked the 1st time i used
it after i had my new harddrive fitted,
so now im stuck, looks like ill have to fork out some money and get the
windows xp full edition disc,
thanks for trying to help
