Right I was browseing the forums of a mmorpg I play called Neocron, and some
guy said this:

"Actually i havn't even logged onto Neocron in like 2 days i think. Will
probally tonight. And maybe a while saturday. I have a date saturday night.
Not sure if or when i will return from that on saturday :).

I will try to get it up and running this weekend. Cutting the bridges on a
mobile XP to get it into a MP chip is being more problem matic then i
thought. I need to update the board to the newest bios see if that helps at
all. It's 2 mobile 2600's after cutting them the board detects one as 1 gig
(which it should) but it detects the other at 1.6 which it should not. After
i get the detected right i have to wire mod them to a multi probally 16 to
start with and up my FSB. Want to get them around 2.2 each maybe higher.
Will have to see how it goes."

Now I may of gotten some warped veiw here but arnt XP's and MP's the same
thing but the MP runs on a lower voltage and is more stable in synchronous
operation due to the materials it is made out of? Why would he need to cut
anything since I thought mobiles were factory unlocked? And if its a duel
cpu motherboard shouldnt it just pick up the core clock of the cpu, or the
multiplier and fsb and calculate the mhz rateing?

Am I wrong or is he talking complete bullshit?

Thanks

No, the they are the same chip*, but the MP is multiprocessor enabled.
Hence the requirement to mod the bridge. I also think they only officially
go to 133MHz FSB, don't quote me on that though.

The Mobiles run on a lower voltage. And they're the same as any other XP...
so the more stable due to materials is not true.

Mobiles are, they're often called XP-M.

Any board does.

And it's "Dual" not "Duel", there's two of them, but they're not fighting.
Hopefully the opposite!

You're confusing MP with XP-M.

*The MP is a TBred or Palamino core, if I recall, like many XPs.

You've confused XP-M (mobile) and XP MP (multi-proc).
There is no mod to convert desktop to mobile - they're superlocked post-week
39.
