I'm nuts.
I want to ram import car drivers off the road.
Oh yeah, I get a woody when I see a couple imports smashed up on the side of the highway. It's the second best thing in life. The first is playing with a great set of Hooters.

Hard to tell what's an import now adays. My Accord was built in Ohio.
RC Pilot will tell you why your Accord was assembled in Ohio.
The same reason the Civic is assembled in Ontario.
It doesn't matter where the car is assembled.
Honda, Toyota, etc. are Japanese companies. GM, Ford and Chrysler are world wide companies. In simple terms, GM Canada is a divison of GM where automobiles are designed built and tested, Honda Canada is a paper company. Honda automobiles are not designed and tested in Canada. Honda assembles cars in Canada just to avoid import tariffs to keep the sticker price low to squeeze out domestic made cars. It's a dirty game. GM is loosing the battle.
I want to support my country's economy by buying a product that increases my country's GDP. Keeps Canadians employed. etc.
Asian car manufacture's are parasites of the North American economy causing it to loose world dominance.
What sucks is some of the Asian made cars are designed and built very well and outlast our own made cars.
well if it consoles you, I should be driving a european car, but I'm driving an american import!
here's my humble list:
1992 Suzuki Swift (known as Alto at your side of the atlantic, I think)
1995 Pontiac Firebird!
The only problem with Asian cars is their quality.
Don't get me wrong, that is problem - an automotive industry is one I think a government needs. Market forces are great in raising standard of living, but some things should be, at least in part, beyond market forces. (Automotive, defense, education, airplane, etc). Where would an independent government be during war/other cataclysm without those things? Dead.
That said, blindly pouring money into any of those things is never a good solution.
This will either be interesting or not, only one way to find out...
I think (hope) it will be due to the various countries of the people in here.
What car's have you owned and currently own? (include spouses from when you met)
1982 Ford Fairmont Brown/Tan...1st car 4 door, a chick magnet 1985 Subaru XT AWD Turbo Grey/Grey
1985 Dodge Aries K Silver/Grey
Wife enters the picture...
1985 Chrysler Lazer Silver/Black...It talked 1989 Honda CRX Si Silver/Black
1993 Ford Thinderbird SC 5spd Blue/Grey
2000 Honda Accord LX Black/Grey
2003 Honda CR-V EX Black/Black
2003 Honda Accord Cpe 5spd Grey/Black (gauges are my avatar)
1978 Ford Falcon V 8. Still own and drive the focker.
No aircon, no stereo, door handles are focked, rust marks everywhere, no power steering and the upholstery is only good for a shaggy dog to lie on; but she's got an arse on her like a porno star and I can slam half-a-footy team drunk off their nanas into the back if I need to.
Baybe, she still purs too. Focking fuel bill is outrageous so I only drive her down for a surf on occasion or down to the boozer.
My broad drives a Holden Astra 1999 model. Great chics car.

Also they're built here to avoid currency fluctuations. As you see, my first
cars were American (the Subi was given to me) and when I met my wife
she had the Lazer. But then she bought that little Honda CRX and we stuck
with them ever since. (I bought the T-Bird before the CRX) I would love
to buy American again, I really would but My Honda Accord 4 banger is
quicker than most comparable American 6's and get's almost 40mpg on
the highway. Of the 4 Honda's we've had we only had one problem on
1. The 2000 Accord's fan switch went bad leaving the fan on all the time.
$50. Relability, resale value, fit and finish, if the Big 3 catch up, I'll go back, but until then...
As for GDP, the people employed in Ohio surely add to it. As does Honda,
Toyota, Nissan, etc. building plants here while the big 3 move 'em out.
My dads mate has one, very cool. He even let me have a drive. Lucky for him he was there or I wouldn't have come back!
Bomber mate where you been?
Very 8) 8) 8)
Mate, one day we may be able to buy a second-hand one.
I went fishing for a week bud. The second degree fell through and the old man was going up to Fraser Island (our family holiday spot of 25 years) so I went up with him and did some fishing and relaxing.
Bloody good fun mate. Great week but a bit warm. Winter fishing is much better, of course.
All my cars have been used up until my new Mazda. My Cherokee's were the best vehicles ever. Everything else died or was totaled in the half a dozen car wrecks I've been in. (none of which were my fault... bad luck I suppose)
oh! wrecks, I've been in:
1989 mothers Honda Accord (between 2 trees)
1990 friends BMW 528i (between road and abyss)
1992 friends Lancia HF Integrale (3 rolls in the fields)
1994 my own Suzuki (I stopped in a lorry, I was very drunk, man that was expensive!)
so no more money to ruin cars for a while, next crash was a few years later:
2002 Yamaha TDM 850 (bike: a car shot me off it)
1986 Jeep Cherokee Laredo <- it was good for a few years...
1991 Toyota 4Runner <- Fun car but costs to much to operate
(Big jump)
2005 VW MKIV GTI 1.8t <- awesome car tons of power when the turbo kicks in, definatly a keeper... 8)
'83 Chrysler New Yorker - "A door is ajar" SHUT UP! from parents
'85 Ford LTD Crown Vic - the SuperBoat! from parents
'84 Jeep Cherokee - bought from friend
'97 Jeep Wrangler Sport, currently w/ 170K+ miles on it.
Since we've been together, the cars I've purchased with / for wifey were
'02 Dodge Stratus - totaled after she was rear ended
'04 Chrysler Sebring - replacement car, decent little ride
After owning a Ford Escort and a baby on the way, we decided I needed one of the most reliable cars on the market. We were going to get a used one becasue we didn't think we could afford a new one.
Long story short: $100.00 over invoice, right off the truck (they had already met their yearly goal). Best part: we paid it off in 12 months.
Kind thinking of getting an Element now. But the wife wants a van. Ugh.
Way too many to list... But will cover the highlights
1st car 1967 malibu w/a 307(had been a 250 6pin sewingmachine motor)
One of my fav's was a 1964 Olds 98 2dr rag top
lets see a 67 Goat
A 69 Nova with a 396 (Ohh Bad ass ride)
Currently a 1969 Buick Riveria powder blue w/ sandal interior & vinyl top & a big Old 430... I love The young turks that plaster a big 5.0 sticker in their mustangs rear window... I walk up & say 5.0 now thats a cute lil' motor & they allways respond quickly well whats that thing got?.... In Litres?... 7.0 sonny....Oh
I kid because I care. Element is nice, based on the CR-V. My wifes CR-V
was bought new 3 years ago next month. 54,000miles and not so much as
a warning light or a burnt out bulb. Oil changes, wipers, and tires-that's it.
Only downside is the 22mpg average.
