Semprons ARE XP's. Tbred B cores to be exact. They changed the name,
changed the model numbering method, and raised the price by comparison. I
don't know how you can come up with your statement. The Sempron 2800+ is a
Tbred B core cpu right down to the same cpuid, but it's clocked at 2000MHz
(12x166), the same as a 2400+ XP. So it runs a little faster FSB by
default. That makes it a little faster than a 2400+, but not much. Now
compare the prices. Buyer beware, the PR numbers on the new sempron are
not the same as the PR numbers of the XP. Subtract 300 from the
sempron model number to get a better comparison The same applies to the
socket 754 models, but subtract about 400 from them. IOW's the Sempron
3100+ performs about the same as an A64 2700+ would, but it's also missing
64bit, etc.

It still kills the new Celeron D though.
