I have a ASUS L8400C notebook with a Celeron 800 in it.
Would like to upgrade to a P III 1Ghz.
The cpu is uPGA or Micro-PGA2.
Is there a difference between them. Are they the same as in a desktop model cpu. Why are they so expensive (
Micro-PGA is the packaging factor of mobile cpu's
PGA2 is more compact/recent and thus for the flat/new notebooks
Mobile CPU's are more expensive because of the special form factor, extra energy saving features and different marketing strategies.
Beware you have to take you're notebook appart to upgrade the cpu and be sure your notebook support a PIII 1 ghz
(check the FSB, for celeron 66 for PII 1 ghz it's 100 or 133) best way to find out is to contact asus
Hey Jerkeies,
Mobile P4's are already available. You guys don't ever go to www.pricewatch.com? They been selling em for weeks. All come with crappie PC133 ram. But i've heard P4's with DDR ram should be out by the 15 of this month. Can't Wait.
