I recently got dawn of war and i think its a great game, but I have massive sound problems when I select a lot of units. Normally when there is not much going on on screen its fine.
Does anyone have similar issues? Im using a soundblaster live player(think it was called the gamer in the US) 5.1

Any help with this problem would be appreciated.

The sound stutters, unit sounds slow down. Its like the computer isnt fast enough to handle the game or summik, but its only the sound that is effected, the game runs fine.
Ive put the number of channels down to low now and it the problem occurs much less often often now.

did you download the game or buy it?

sometimes pirated games will do that.(not saying that you pirate)

also have you checked your sound drivers?

SB 5.1 live right? try updating drivers as well. then check to see in your sound preferences in windows that the right device is chosen.(pretty thats already done but it cant hurt.)

also do you have any other games that this happens in?

you could also try reseating the card itself.

try playing with different sound settings... I had similar problems with Vice City with a Live 5:1 digital (now using NForce2 onboard these days though)... depending on the sound setup in the game sounds would not even happen (eg cars with no car noises horn engine etc...) EAX1 EAX2 & so-forth

Trust me I know what I'm doing... ooops, grab the cat...

The links that PhukFace showed a lot of people with exactly the same problem, so I think it might be a game issue rather than a soundcard one.
It did recommend I turn down hardware acceleration if i was experiencing sound problems, but I dont want to have to do that. Or change any of my sound settings for that matter, it would annoy me having to change them everytime i played the game. But thanks for the suggestion.
I installed the 1.1 patch but it doesnt seem to make a difference, i think it only resolves network issues.
