No, they're not the same. The palomino is an old core limited to about
1800MHz. The Thorton is a newer core and should do upwards of about
2400MHz.

Well, model 8 is a Tbred. Which one you have depends on the cpuid.
680=Tbred A, 681=Tbred B.
