I have a 1940 that is about 4 months old. It seems to work fine
except if I try to click the settings menu it locks up. I tried
pulling the power and letting the battery run down to the point that
the machine totally reset but still no luck.
Does anyone have any ideas on what this could be? I assume HP needs
to reflash the ipaq. Do they charge for something like that? IF so
does anyone know how much?

If it's only 4 months old, you still have another 8 months
worth of warranty left. You can either choose to return it
to the store you bought it in and get a new one (Test it!)
or you can call HP and request service. They will then
send you a box in which you place your iPAQ, and they will
come and pick it up and return it to you within 5 business
days to your door.
