I have a lot of roms for mame I've collected over the years, but I still
don't have pac-man. I think there might be some irony in there, somewhere.
Does anyone here have it?

Yes, I have it. Check your board collection, it would be very unusual
to have a large collection of PCBs with no Pac-Man. The roms are
contained on the chips with the clear top usually. You can often send
your board out to be dumped and have the rom sent back to you.

Yesterday; all my troubles seems so far away, 'n'stuff. Do some
searching and you'll find what you are looking for.

If you've discovered alt.games.mame, you might like to try
alt.binaries.emulators.mame.
They've just done a rom flood of the latest version of MAME... Pac-Man
will be in there - possibly under 'P' ;-)

Check out mame.slor.net -- it has tons of MAME 0.96 classic arcade (and
other) roms...including pac-man. I was in a similar situation as you...until
I found this web site, ironically, by someone else on Usenet. I have a post
that I put in earlier in this group...you may see it if you scroll down
farther in the mesasge list as "pacman rom". Someone responded with
mame.slor.net. After that I could say I am eternally grateful since now I
can get all the classic arcade games (that's all I'm interested in) from a
one-stop site. They may not have all the newest, grandest games supported by
MAME in there, but they sure have a lot. They've got all the Pac-Man
versions supported by MAME, and I forget, but they might even have the
original Puck-Man.
