I have just bought a HP media Centre and noticed that the connection to
the internet was really slow through my Cisco soho router. When I run
a speed check on web sites it is running at 60kbps. But, when I
connect my usb router is downloads at >600kbps. So I thought it was
the nic card on the new pc. So I purchased a usb to rj45 adaptor and
installed that - still very slow for LAN connections to the internet.

So I have rulled out the nic card and the rj45 cable and cisco soho
router as my HP laptop connects fine.

I thought it may be a Internet Explorer setting so downloaded Firefox -
just the same. I have checked both the lan card settings - both to auto
for speed. Is there anything else in xp that could cause it as I seem
to have ruled out all hardware?
