I have a problem with getting my monitor to display 1280x1024
in windowsXP. Here is the story:
I have used this monitor (A4033, multisync) for years on 98SE
at 1280x1024 (and even for a while at 1600x1200), and it works
just fine. This is a 20 inch monitor, so this is not surprising.
Another monitor, P990 (19 inch) also works at 1280x1024
on 98SE. I just got a compaq SR1550 (windows XP),
integrated graphics: SIS mirage2 graphics with 128MB shared
memory. I hooked up the A4033, and it would only go to a max
of 1024x768 (default driver). I then replaced that monitor
with the P990, and it went to a resolution of 1280x1024.
Everything the same, just different monitors, and it
auto selected the P990 driver.
So, I put the A4033 back, and it went to the default driver,
and the same max of 1024x768. So, I installed the P990
driver, and it still would not go above 1024x768.
Does anybody have any ideas how I can get 1280x1024 on
the A4033 monitor? Maybe I need to install a different
driver? But there are hundreds (thousands?) of monitor
drivers.
