I recently put a NEC 1300 DVD+-RW drive in my computer. I’ve seen a
lot of people with this problem but still haven’t resolved it. When
I try to access it, my computer all but freezes up. The first time I
try to access it after boot up, it shows a DVD in the drive and
everything, but after the try-access fiasco, it just says CD drive. In
my error log, it says
The device, DeviceCdRom1, has a bad block.
It used to be the master but I heard if you switch it to slave it
works. I tried and it didn’t change anything. I also uninstalled and
reinstalled the driver many times. I don’t have the driver disc
because I took the drive out of another computer in my house. When I
install it I have to let it do the plug and play thing. So there’s
my situation. Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks.
