boot disk failure ??????????

hi im sorry if this thread has been covered somewhere else but im at my
wits end.

i currently have

asus motherboard a7v8v-mx
2.4 chip
256 memory
14 gig harddrive (yes i know its small)
128 graphics

now everything worked fine before and now it dont

when booting the machine windows xp home dont boot on its own

i get boot disk failure insert system disk and press enter if i put the
xp disk in cdrom it boots fine ( hence me here now:))

i have spent all day on this without much success

i know that its the harddrive, the bios shows it there and my boot
sequence is as it should in the bios, the drive is set to master as i
believe it should be
i have even done a fresh install of xp and had the tower in bits and
put back together to check all i can think of cables and such

the xp is on one partion but just seems to be missing something???????

even when i installed xp when it comes to reboot itself in the setup it
dont boot properly

any ideas or help would be most help full thx

you need to run fixboot to write the bootsector
you need to run fixmbr to write the master boot record
You need to run bootcfg /rebuild to create a new boot.ini file.

The website explains the "Recovery Console" of XP and how to access it.It
also has a list of commands.

Possible hd failure :(
