Problems with WD hard disk

Hello,
I have a problem with my WD "My Passport Essential SE" portable Hard Drive..
For some reason the folders keep on disappearing.. however, they are still there.. Since I can see that there is a huge used up memory.. And even when i change my computer's settings to "show hidden files".. I still cannot see them!

Any ideas???

Try Avast antivirus after installing new copy of windows.
