For a while, I used a pretty old version of MAME32 to play ROMs. I
upgraded recently because Mortal Kombat 4 was added to MAME, but I
noticed that my history.dat that I had in my old version no longer works
in this one-- I put it exactly where I put it in my last version of
MAME, yet I only see a screenshot and not the interesting biography. Is
there anything I'm missing?

Also, when upgrading MAME32 versions, what files and folders should I
keep to keep all my saved data, controls, options, etc.?

Thanks

Upon further investigation, I noticed that the games have quite an
extensive database of interesting information in the "Game History"
option when you press tab-- is there any way to display this on the
MAME32 screen along with the screenshots, cabinet, banner, etc. so it's
not hidden behind menus?

Under options > Interface Options change the Show History on Tab to
All and turn off the History tab under View > Show Pictures. Should
work.
