ok
have an AMD2600+ (1.92ghz) with locked multiplier, just replaced stock fan
with coolermaster vortex dream 7 so i thought what the hell
with the stock the CPU idled at 53 C which was poor to say the least
popped in new coolermaster, idles at 44 C, thought i would OC it i am now
running fine as far as i can tell at 47 C with the processor set with
originally a 195MHz FSB but it seems to have autoed at 200MHz with the
locked multiplier of 11.5
so its
200x11.5=2300MHz which my system shows up as a 3200+
now just dropped to 46 C, im not doing much, just ran prime 95 benchmark and
it went to 47 C but it will be ok up to the mid 50's wont it in this way?
to my point though, I have pc2700 ram (333MHz) so my question is will having
the processor at 200 MHz FSB (400 MHz) damage anything if the memory is at
333Mhz would it be better to have CPU at default speed of 1.9GHz with the
fsb as 166Mhz (333Mhz) or would i be ok leaving the CPU overclocked to 2.3
GHz
will it be better if i got some ddr400 memory too?
this is the furthest i have ever oc'd, i am a bit of a novice and have no
idea where memory comes into play
I use an MSI KT6V mainboard and cant find the memory timings anywhere in the
BIOS
i am using crucial ddr333 pc2700 512mb ram CAS3 i believe.
cant find memory timings anywhere though, can anyone help out here? or
should i just leave it, any advice, hints/tips about how to proceed if i
should leave the processor OC's, will it offer much of a performance
increase?
