I have two CD drives in my Dell. D: is just a read-only drive, E: is a
R/W.
D: does not recognize new disks and when clicking on that drive with
Explorer, I get message to insert new disk that does not go away, even
after
the disk is inserted. Drive E: works fine. Any Suggestions? Thanks.

If the computer is still under warranty, call Dell tech support and have
them replace the drive. If not, then replace the drive yourself. A
cd-rom drive is around $20usd.
