Hi,

I am looking to under-volt my XP2200+ (133fsb) to reduce the temp, so that I
can slow the CPU fan down further, reducing noise in the process. Any
suggestions as to how low I can expect to go before things start going
tits-up?

Depends on the core. If you have a Tbred A core, you might not get below
1.65v. If it's a Tbred B core, you might get down under 1.5v. You can most
certainly go to to less than 1.65v though. All you can do is try and see.

Thanks for the reply.

I have set it at 1.5v and all seems well so far - a couple of hours runnning
processor-intensive applications (or 'games' as some people call them). What
I want to avoid is the hassle of setting it too low and then having to pull
the box out from under the desk because I have got to reset the BIOS
manually. I suppose that if I want to even lower this will inevitably happen
at some point!

If you've lowered it to 1.5v you should probably run memtest or prime95
to make sure the system is still stable. Since you are wanting lower
temps, you should also make sure you have a decent cooler. The AMD cooler
for the K7's isn't very good.
