Hello all,
At this moment I'm in the market for another CPU (AMD64-939 /3000+).
I know there is a new Core... Venice i.s.o. the "old" winchester (another
nm technology)
Why should I go for the Venice or the Winchester, I asked AMD technical
info.
I got the message that I should search there DB.
But that answer is not there.... (only nm differance) so back to
start....
Who can tell me some "importand" differances..
how do both overclock.... or not...

Yahoo or Google search can.
Results 1 - 10 of about 1,190,000 for venice core - 0.08 sec

hi
venice has a faster memory interface. both are much cooler than 130nm, through winchester
won that by some few degrees (don't matter).

Get the Venice if you can find one. It supports SSE3 and has a modified
memory controller so that you can populate all four memory banks at tighter
memory timings.
The Winchester maxes out at about 2.5-2.6ghz and the Venice maxes out at
about 2.6-2.7ghz.

Thanks you all for the info..!!
SSE3 / better mem controller... mmmm, I'm not an expert but does this mean
I need a newer Bios to for this options??? than is already on de mobo's in
the shop right now...

you will almost certainly need a new BIOS to support a new core suchas
Venice.

You mentioned MSI in a later reply. They have jst updated the BIOS to v1.4
for the K8N Neo4 Platinum, and it includes support for revision E cores,
which I presume are Venice, so you might want to check your mobo and see if
there is an update.
