Am I going to melt my PC desk? AMD 2800XP 58 degress normal?

Hey I have been hunting the internet for some advice.
I have overclocked my 2800XP to 2.2ghz and was wondering why it always
says its at about the 60 degree mark.
I understand that this sounds bad but I have a thermaltake silent
boost on it. 4 80mm case fans and an exhaust about an inch away from
my graphics card (X800XL).
The odd thing is my computer seems pretty happy, I dont get crashes
and see no artifacts now that i lowered my cards memory clock.
Any ideas? should i dial it all down again before I make a silicon
toaster?

If i run 3dmark the cpu can get to about 67 i think. Everyone seems to
be saying 40-50 is limit???

Two things:
1) Idle temperatures don't matter a great deal. When idling, both the
chances of an error occuring are small (due to the low temperature) and the
impcact of the error is usually not major.
2) Absolute temperatures don't matter. There is a huge variation (I've seen
30 deg C) between boards and BIOSes, so unless you have made your own
calibrated temperature monitor you really don't have any idea what the CPU
temperature is. Likewise, you cannot compare your temperature to anyone
else's (so there is no "maximum safe temperature" like 50 deg C).

As long as you haven't significantly increased the voltage (over 10%, or
thereabouts), then if the CPU is Prime95 stable (for a reasonable number of
hours, I usually run for 24+ though 10 should be fine) it's not being
damaged by excess heat.
