I've had a Lexmark E210 (I think the same as a Samsung 1210, but won't
accept the latter's toner cartridge) for about a year and a half. I that
time I've used up the starter cartridge and probably about half of a full
cartridge. I'll probably have to buy the next one direct from lexmark at
their inflated prices, so I ahve two or three questions:
1) What's the service life of a Lexmark E210? Mine's worker flawlessly
so far, but I give it light use. What gives our first, the fuser?
2) Assuming it lasts, where's the cheapest place to buy a Lexmark
repalcement? A third-party replacement, if the infamous Lexmark chip can
be reset?
3) If it is likely to break down soon, should I be looking for a Samsung
1710, which goes on after-rebate sale for $100, the cost of a full Lexmark
cartridge?
I don't want to spend more than $100, whatever I do. I know HP and
Brother make cheap lasers too, but I don't think Brother has a great
longevity record, and HP is more expensive in upkeep.
