Cops aren't waiting for the drunks to get in their car. They are just dragging them right out of the bars.

Agents are now entering bars to arrest intoxicated patrons in what they call a pre-emptive strike, but others say the campaign is borderline harassment.

"Borderline" harassment?? I Think they jumped the border quicker than then a pregnant 17yr old Mexican girl in her 9th month

Are bar's & resturants considered quasi public property in Texas? If not then there's some major constitutional chit going on here

Anyone familiar with Texas law fell free to chime in here

I am.

Didn't you know that Texas is still sore about The Alamo? They're still their own nation! duh! they can do whatever they want. their own power grid allows them to do this. ;-)

Texas has the highest rate of fatalities due to drunk drivers

This is true... when you consider the population of Texas it's not hard to surmise they have the most DUI deaths. However deaths per capita isn't the highest. States like Rhode Island, Hawaii, Louisiana, Illinois, Wisconsin, and New Mexico all have higher per capita DUI fatalities.

So the problem isn't as bad as they'd like you to believe...

Found out last night a kid I graduated tried to drive home from a party wasted.. He ended up passing out or something, crossing the line and going head-on into a semi.. both traveling around 60mph. That's the first death of my graduating class that I'm aware of.. One may have been killed in Iraq.. not sure yet. Well, I haven't looked yet.

They have their own power grid?...Hmmm do you suppose radical Texan fundamentalists were responsible for the 2003 blackout??

Reply to AilingBlackLab

lol. probably.

but yeah, Texas is on it's own completely independent power grid. it's the place to be if a nuclear bomb explodes on the east or west coast.

I had to testify last week at a vehicular homicide trial. I witnessed a lincoln navigator roll 6 times back in 2004. 5 occupants. 2 were ejected. 1 died.

she (driver) was found guilty on thursday.

That's retarded. What if the intoxicated person is there with a friend who is the DD? Then their entire "pre-emptive strike" excuse is bullshit.

In Florida you can't drink a beer in front of your house. It's a form of public intoxication.

If the police can see it- it's illegal.

They don't really enforce it though. Except for in the ghetto when they wanna give some homies a hard time.

Between work and my car car I do over 50,000 miles a year.
I'm more worried about the sober drivers. My wife noticed I
don't even react when someone does something stupid when
driving anymore. People can't drive drunk or sober.

Reply to KingLoftusXII

That's true.

Speeding kills more people than drunk driving in every state.

Dog looks at cane leaning against desk ..A result of a 61 yr old woman checking in her grocery bags while driving crossing median & slamming me head on at 35 mph each & decieds he agrees with King 100%

The tail-gating is insane. You should see 91N through MA on Friday nights
in the winter as all the NY NJ a$$holes come flying through on the way to
ski country in VT. Both lanes packed people 2ft of each others bumpers,
passing in the break down lane...
