I switched from a DOS setup to Linux and built xmame. Now I am having a
problem that I never had before. When I switch my keywiz between
keyboard and panel Linux stops recognizing it.

I remember back in the old days you couldn't unplug your mouse and plug
it back in without the device driver (or Windows) quitting on you. It
seems like I am having that problem.

Does anybody have any ideas on how to get this back on track?

I am thinking of switching back to DOS because I really need the keywiz
pass through.

Thanks,
John

When I've had problems with that, was with USB and similar on systems
without hotplug enabled. Never had that problem on PS/2 devices, but then
again, I've only had PS/2 devices come unplugged on a system with hotplug
installed. I know this machine here, I accidentally have my mouse
unplugged pretty often while I'm monkeying around underneath and never
have a problem with it not working after I plug it back in.

Can ya give some more info on your setup?

Dell PII 233 MHz
Linux Fedora Core 3 vanilla install

Keyboard works great through the keywiz at first. Switch to control
panel -- panel doesn't work -- nothing. Switch back to keyboard --
keyboard doesn't work. Unplug the PS/2 cord at the CPU box and put back
in and the keyboard starts working. Performing the same unplug/replug
while keywiz is switched to the control panel doesn't seem to help. I
actually thought that the control panel was busted, but I hooked it up
to my other computer and it worked fine. Something about the switching
is making this Dell clam up.

What is hotplug?
