Right. I'm going to be using a 1400 Athlon (266 MHz FSB). I've a fair idea about what I want, but I want a few opinions on the best chipset and <b>why</b>.

I said KT266A,

but - if you need a new sound card anyway, get the Nforce... :o)

Actaully go with the cheaper of the Nforce/KT266A, weighted with that outstanding on-board audio....

I voted for the KT266A.

I haven't read a whole lot about the nForce, yet. But it looks pretty good so far. If I were building a new machine, I would be researching that one.

I was looking at the ECS E5S7A (my buyer wants a cheap option), but if cheap means unstable he'll probably dig deeper for something else. I'll probably wait a couple of weeks to see how things turn out.
