My system is as follows:

667 megahertz Intel Celeron
32 kilobyte primary memory cache
128 kilobyte secondary memory cache

Board: i810-47B27X
Bus Clock: 66 megahertz
BIOS: Phoenix Technologies, LTD 6.00 PG 12/31/2003

The Motherboard is a ASUS MEW-AM microATX. What I am looking to do is
get a bit more out of it with a new CPU.

I am presently looking at a 370GU Upgrade kit that uses a 370GU with a
Celeron 1.3GHz CPU and comes with a Heat Sink, Grease & Fan for $88.00
from Stratton Computer.

I also plan on upgrading my SDRAM to 133MHz as I can pin set my CPU &
SDRAM speed up to 115MHZ (Presently set at 66Mhz).

Any comments would be appreciated.

(I would go to a new Mobo & CPU but I am on Retired/Disability and
going the cheap way right now. Hoping for at least a 40-50% increase
in CPU speed).

Additional Info:

I upgraded to 256 SDRAM for a total of 515MB @ 133MHz. Working ok.

Now to the board...it's marked as ASUS MEW-AM REV. 2.01

Also Belarc Advisor lists the board as i810-47B27X and CheckIt
Portable Edition lists Phoenix Tech BIOS 6.00 PG
Video 82810e 810e Chipset Graphics Controller.

This is listed from the Intel forum as a FC-PGA 370 Socket.

Well, the adapter that Stratton sells is from Upgradeware and they have a
compatibility table on their site, here:

http://www.upgradeware.com/english/product/370gu/compat...

The MEW-AM is listed, albeit different HP models, but no rev levels are
mentioned.

It should work if it really is an 810-->E<-- chipset but I can't tell from
the HP online docs as they use a typical 'big business' kind of model
system where "Pavilion 8710" leads you to a blanket 'Product Family'
specification that has everything from a Celeron 667 to P-III 1 gig to a
Duron 800Mhz to an AMD Athlon 1.2 gig to a P4 1.5 gig, and it is
intuitively obvious they aren't on the same chipsets.

Forgot to add, my CPU is in a 370 PPGA Socket.

Hi,

I would say sell what you have on eBay, and pick up some used ATHLON kit, it
will blow any upgraded PIII stuff out the water!

If your PC case is fully mATX compliant, it might not cost much more to
upgrade to a CHEAP mATX AMD board with a budget CPU like the Duron.

Look for brands like ECS and ASRock, in the Netherlands they have an ASRock
for only 30 euro (about 30 dollar). Then you still have 58 for the
processor. Most recent boards dont support your PC133 mem, though :-(

If you want to keep your current memory, you'll have to look a bit closer at
some vintage boards, coupled with a Duron 1600 or something. This will give
you a much larger increase than just 40-50%...
