Which wins - iPod or Pocket PC?

What are the relative merits of an iPod type MP3 player with high storage
capacity (say 20Gb) versus a pocket PC carrying around lots of SD or compact
flash cards to have the same storage capacity?

Latter would seem to be favourite as you just carry one unit to organise
your life and carry your music. Downside would seem to be having to buy and
carry 20Gb worth of flash cards!

It depends largely on whether you want a very efficient music player or a
computer - I generally treat them as different things (my home stereo
compared to my home computer, since I don't own an iPod).

It might seem too obvious to mention, but you would only have to carry 20Gb
worth of flash cards once (if) you'd transferred that much music. On the
other hand, once that limit was reached, you could keep going with cards,
and you'd also have everything else a PPC offers (which is lots). Battery
life must surely be in favour of an iPod, though, and you wouldn't have to
switch cards for big or mixed play lists. I'll be interested to see what
other people have to say about the pros and cons of each. Radios are great
for portability, range of content, and price!

Cheers,

Jez

Um, not to mention cost, an 20GB Ipod is like 200 bux here, or something
lets say, 1 GB Flash card is about $300 so your going to spend $6,000 to
have a pocket pc, versus an IPOD no I don't think so. For FLAT mp3 playing,
the ipod is probably better. I use my Pocket PC as an MP3 player tho, the
Jornada has removable batteries, and I just reencode my mp3's to a lower
sample rate, and get a good listening. I don't have 20 GB of files tho, only
about 4 GB, and of that I only listen to 700 MB. I'm not sure if you can
play non-AAC files on an iPOD tho, so that might come into play as well.
