Hi there,

I have a 500GB Single hard drive. I just installed XP Pro SP2. I would like to dual boot with another modded XP I have or even Windows 7. XP is installed on D and the other OS would be installed on E. I would like to prevent XP from seeing/accessing files from E and vice versa. How can I achieve this?

Thank you

The easiest way is to go into Disk Management (Start -> right-click "Computer" and select "Manage" -> click "Disk Management" in the right pane), scroll down to the bottom of the middle section, right-click on the partition that you want to remove access to and select "Change Drive Letter and Paths...". Then remove the drive letter from the partition and click "OK".

Boot up each OS in turn and do this for the partition that the other OS resides in. Of course it won't stop someone else from coming along and deliberately using Disk Management to reassign a drive letter, but it will prevent programs or users from accidentally accessing anything in the partition.
