I am using an iPaq 4350 with the Bluetooth radio turned off most of the time
to conserve battery. Is there a way to automatically turn the Bluetooth
radio on when fetching e-mail for then to have the radio turned off when
done? Now I need to manually turn Bluetooth on prior to connecting and
manually off after receiving my e-mails. To automatically turn on Bluetooth
when starting accessing a web page in Explorer would also be good.

With certain programs that access the bluetooth radio you could do that but
it doesn't work with pocket ie, mail and such. You really don't gain any
extra battery life by having the bluetooth radio turned off. Unlike wifi
that transmitss and recieves all the time, bluetooth sits in recieve mode
and only transmitts when it needs to. I leave bluetooth on all the time on
my 5555 and 4350 and I still get great battery life.

Thank you, I will give it a try to keep the radio on all the time. As per my
usage pattern and with occasional usage of wifi and bluetooth (no media
player) I get 1 hour per 10% of battery life, which is pretty good.
I am syncing over bluettoth and have a short in the Bluetooth Manager called
'ActiveSync with T23' (T23 is the name of my laptop). Where can I find the
actual shortcut in Explorer so I can access it directly from the Start Menu
or the Today screen (I am using Spb Pocket plus)?
Thanx

I don't think you can access the bluetooth connection shortcut. I've looked
myself as it would be nice to tap once to get to it instead of having a
screen tapping marathon just to sync.

Closet I've gotten is to stick a shortcut to BTConnManageCE (it's in the
Windows directory) on the today screen. It takes you straight to the BT
manager while turning on BT.

Thanx. That is useful. I have tried to keep the Bluetooth radio on all the
time; Eric is correct; it does not really gain any battery life having it
off. On the contrary, it looks like the battery life has improved having the
radio on all the time, it seems to drain faster having the radio turned
on/off all the time. Typically, I will do 20-25 Bluetooth connections per
day (email/SMS/browse/sync).
