I've just been shown a smart little program for compressing executable files.

http://upx.sourceforge.net/#download (Win , Linux & Atari :)

I managed to get mame32FXpp.exe from 37MB down to 7MB and it still be runs
when packed.

I know that in these days of huge drives that we might not need something
like this all that often, but if you're still running with a small drive then
it could free up some much needed space for you.

Dialer and other malware comes often in UPX format. I have it to analyze
them then.

They used to use UPX to compress the exe. Took too much time and as you
say, these days, not really worth it.

Had a quick check myself and found nothing hidden anywhere, let me know if
you find anything.

I figured as much. I did notice on the site that it had been around for
awhile. I also vaguely remember using somthing like it years ago.

God I miss the Amiga days. I learned quite a lot about the OS as most of my
friends kept having errors when things didn't load properly. I used to spend
hours just poking around the files and seeing what everything was for.

I still use it quite a bit. If you can make packages smaller, calls for
quicker download and smaller footprint.

You can either rename the file or zip without compression which is very
fast. Oh, and it's 2 gigs now ;) Between gmail and yousendit, I am good
to go.

May be I hit reply-by-mail? But then it should not show up in the
newsgroup.

Sorry anyway.

You also can send huge files from a Gmail account?

I wonder how much a 770 MB SVCD file bloats up when you send it by
email. Should be of one third, so just about to big to email it. *LOL*

Andreas don't apologize*, it was just weird seeing an email from you
replying to a message in here.

I actually got a message from what seems to be a forum telling me there was
a reply to my message. But I only posted the message here. Can't remember
the name of the site or forum but it had "game" in the title.

*If you want to apologize for anything how about those Amiga CD's I was
holding for you about 3-4 years ago when you were getting ready to move and
had no address for me to send them to. (Remember that?) :-)
