Why not just load them up with classics that are now public domain? Frankly I don't see the point though. Any avid reader is going to bring books or a ereader with them. Non avid readers are just going to watch some TV or surf the Internet.

greghomeConsidering how a large percent of the UK's population are irreligious....I think this is gonna be a big waste of money......

Because popular fiction titles that you can charge to your room account, creating a revenue stream, like Harry Potter or Girl With The Gragon Tattoo are not dependant on you being Catholic.

Who replaces the Kindle when the user walks out with it?

So you book your hotel room with your credit card, then sign in. Why do you think people don't walk out with the TV or the kettle, think for a minute and the answer will come eventually.

You have to complement them for not using iPads.

The hotel, care of your credit card, which you have to put on file to book a hotel pretty much anywhere in the world.

Considering the number of non-Christian natives immigrating to Britain now, maybe hotels should consider a Quran too.

Do you think there much of a chance of that, considering the price difference and their need for a very basic e-book reader?

The same arguement could be used to ask why so many people have an iPad and an iPhone.

I guess the human race is incapable of learning from past mistakes...
In 1933, in National Socialist controlled Germany, Jehovah's Witnesses were persecuted on the basis of their beliefs. Then Jews and Romani were persecuted. Eventually certain Protestant religions were persecuted due to their belief in the Old Testament. Finally the persecution of Catholics began in later years.
In all 6 million Jews, 3 million Catholics and 2 million 'others' were killed in Nazi concentration camps.
It is important to practice tolerance for all people. Tolerating only those that agree with you leads down a very dark path...

I would rather that they just get rid of all religious paraphernalia from hotels. I find the Bible to be offensive (though hilarious) and usually just end up stealing it and burning it in my sacrificial alter when I get home.

who cares all it is is a little book kept in a drawer out of sight. its not like all hotel rooms have a cross with baby Jesus over every door and bed. although i bet there are hotels somewhere that do this

They are not what Gideon's bibles are aimed at. The Gideon's bibles are aimed at casually religious or "bi(ble) curious" people. After all, there's no need to convert someone if he's already converted.

By the way, I know very religious people who are computer experts.

Yeah, this will not last long, at all...

having a credit card on file is one thing, accusing someone of stealing something from a hotel room and proving it is another..

But it was there, maybe on of your staff took it! who else has access to the room!

Nope, they will walk, get broken and not be used for a profit.

Who will stay in the room long enough to read a whole book anyway, unless yuo have time to burn and cant be arsed leaving the room!

Its a joke!

I tolerate people by pretty much hating everyone :)  I can't be called biased when I hate everyone equally plus it allows me to make jokes and find anything I want funny, it's awesome.

P.S. Just in case you didn't know hating everyone is not the same as doing harm, I don't hurt anyone I just can't really stand people in general.
