I put on a new software install and removed the older copies.

So there's a bootup problem where I get the message about uninstalling
an unused appllication.
Somewhere in the mix, a shared file (I guess) called snaphlp.vxd

And boot process stops there now.

I looked for refs in msconfig under win.ini, autoexec and config sys
but no clue of what's wrong.

Googling and yahooing only gaver some ref. on a German site that
mentioned the file in reference to Windows Startup. Would I have to
reinstall the OS for this?

Other thing I did was look for snaphlp.vxd on the Win98Se disk.
Only other place for vxds I know to look for is sound card, so I'll
check the Turtle Beach Santa Cruz disk too.

Will check of rany replies shortly.

thanks,

Boot to safe mode, then use Regedit to search the registry for
that file name, as that is where it's loaded. Export a backup of
that registry subkey and then delete ONLY the part referring to
that file.
