I am trying to scan my hard drive for errors in Windows XP. I have just
recently installed a graphics card to enable me to use another monitor but
the picture quality is that poor I have now decided to remove the card.

Now the system is back to its original state but when I try to scan the HD
for errors, once the computer has rebooted I get the message (when its
trying to scan) "Cannot Open Volumes For Direct Access"

Can anyone tell me what this is? I have 2 hard drives, one with XP on the
other I just use for backup.

Thanks in advance

If you want to just 'scan' the drive for errors then uncheck the
automatically repair box. If you want to fix any that are found then say
YES when it asks you if you want to schedule a boot time scan and then reboot.
