My fried wants me do build a system with SATA drives in RAID 1
configuration. When I build the system will WinXP recognize the drives
right off the bat?

SATA RAID controllers have to be configured first in their BIOS. Then the
appropriate drivers have to be available for XP. Make sure you have a floppy
drive available and a copy of those drivers on a floppy disk. You may have to
copy them from the MoBo or RAID card driver CD or mfgr's web site.

Should also note that you need to press F6 during the initial loading of
setup to install the driver.
