KATMANDU, Nepal (AP) - Protesters demanding a return to democracy postponed a rally that had been expected to draw thousands on Saturday, after the king imposed an all-day curfew and ordered violators shot on sight.
One person was killed and at least two wounded when security forces fired at demonstrators in Pokhara, a resort town 125 miles west of the capital, Katmandu, said Gangadhar Baral, who was among those wounded ...
Sounds to me like the king has just about had enough of all this bitching and whining ... I guess we'll have to hit the bars instead ... geezzz, the guy can't handle a little dissent ... 8O
Yo Amik, you wanta trash those "overthrow that ass Gyanendra" signs ... :?
Hey snorky, I expect that from a communist like you. Doesn't bother me. Btw, I didn't rig anything ... not sure anyone did. But every author is entitled to their particular POV ...
Edit: I just checked out Freedom House's web site ... seems like a well meaning organization at first glance ... haven't read too much of their reports though. They seem more focused on your neck of the woods than mine
And I'm not in favor of censorship or anything like that, but it pisses me off that publications with loud names like "Freedom House" spread blatant lies because they have a political (or money, it's always money in the end) agenda.
No, not even that pisses me off. What pisses me off is the sheeople believing them.
LOL, dude ... if you believe the're bogus, and you have enough "facts" to debunk what they put out ... then I guess you have an opportunity to put it right ... I've never encountered them before, so I can't form an opinion one way or another.
I've lived in a lot of places and my experience is wider than most people's. My "facts" are based on this.
Currently living in Russia, the level of FUD being spread around by different western and "pro-democracy" medias (I get a whole bunch of news channels) has never been higher.
The "Freedom House" caught my eye because their comparison is beyond ridiculous. Apparently, I live in a place that's less "free" than for instance, Nepal. The fact that I read this in an opposition publicaion that I bought while waiting for the bus, a bus late because someone was protesting something, is not ironic, not at all.
