Counting cards is bad. Ten minutes to Wapner.

Counting cards is good...if you are the player. If you are the house, well, look out for guys who look odd and making bank many times over. Remember, the house edge for blackjack is .2 if playing basic strategy.

Some Casinos offer a side bet called the royal match, if your two cards are the same suit it pays 3 to 1(differs depending on the casino) or 25 to 1(differs also) if you hit KQ suited. Odds are in the favor of the house by a few percentage points but hitting a KQ suited with a bet on the royal match is a good time, seems like your talking about competitive blackjack though. If I want to compete with people at a card game its holdem and nothing else.

I heard side bets are the worst odds you may have in a card game...even BJ.

It's all about money management...unless you are a stupid high roller.

johnson is right, holdem is the game to play if you want to compete. The only way you can come out on top in blackjack is if you're literally Rainman counting cards, seriously. House blackjack is completely stacked against you.

Nope, blackjack has the better odds for you. The odds in favor of the house are lower than hold'em.

Now, concerning competition, (like tourney,) then yes; hold'em is the game you want to play.

In BJ, if you play basic strategy and follow the rule of money management, you can come out on top against the high rollers who either bust or beat by the dealers hands. A+10,J,Q,and/or K cards...aka 'Blackjacks' are rare. Unless you actually have done mathematics against the decks, then the odds are in your favor. Even if you are in super saiyan mode, the house will always have the advantage in the long run...regardless of the game!

The side bet percentages for a royal match in BJ aren't all that bad.
