Brother HL-150 print appearing twice.

On my HL-1250, occasionally I get a faint reproduction of the top half of a
print out appearing in the bottom part of the sheet, looking really sloppy.
I've taken a soft piece of cloth to the green cylinder-thingie and it seems
to clear spasmodically.
Any suggestions for a permanent fix (short of buying new bits)?
