I did a custom install of windows 7 from windows xp. Prior to the installation, I did not have any issues connecting to the internet via wireless router. Since the installation, I have not been able to connect to the internet even though the connection is available.

i have the following:
network type: Access point
security type wpa2-psk
ssid is listed correctly and is available for connection
radio type 802.11
Realtek 8185 extensible 802.11 b/g
checked adapter and is working correctly
tried resetting the router
router: linksys e1000 wireless-n router

i have discovered the following issues:
the wireless adapter is not connected
the Attempting to authenticate message is displaying

I can not connect to the internet with my computer hence, i am using a different computer(mac) that uses the same wireless router.

maybe this will help, i receive a message no connection connections are available. Upon selecting a connection, the status changes to connecting. After awhile, it times out and says not connected. When i checked the adapter status, it says everything is working fine.

my system was running windows xp, the internet access was fine.

if a key component was left out during the upgrade, can i retrieve from windows.old and how? (i know how to organize and copy/paste from windows.old, although i do not know what to do from there)

if windows is not allowing the connection, what needs to be done?

thank you
