The printer queue contained a document "FirmwareDownload" with size 37 bytes
and
property "IMFPRINT". The printer immediately stopped working and
uninstalling +
re-installing drivers does not work (The firmware is likely damaged).

This problem is known on usenet, people have experienced the same problem
but
there seems to be no solution except buying a new printer! Even network
administrators say: "The printer has to be replaced".

This can't be true..
If this isn't a virus.. HP, shame on you!

HP immediately contacted me and they had the solution.
The problem was Windows XP SP 2, which somehow caused this to happen.

The file FWDL.exe should be renamed or disable in MSCONFIG (startup files).
